Reuse And Grow A Great Garden!!

Image
Hello, and good morning. Welcome to Its A Mom Life, happy Wednesday. This is a great day for a mom tips and tricks blog! Do you plant a garden? What do you grow? Last is when do you start your seeds, if you do start your own? I use to pre buy all my plants that I could not just plant in the ground. That was before tho and after spending so much money as I have a large garden, years ago I set out to start trying to replant some of my own plants. I still buy some from the green house, and try to always get some flowers and plants need to support our loyal greenhouses. As I am from a small town I try to get a little bit from both greenhouses! So what's some tricks that I use when starting seeds? I have started some seeds already it was the end of February and I do try to start them earlier then that, but life happened and it was the end of the month! Story of my life there haha. There are so many different products put there to start your own seeds, however all that stuff adds up v...

Your own FABRIC SOFTENER!!

Image
Hello, good morning happy Tuesday. This diy Tuesday is a good one, I have been making this product for a long time now! This is something that I found to work great, and save a LOT of money! This is making your own fabric softener! This product is one of the easiest things I make and will not go back to store bought! This product contains ingredeints that you will more then likely have on hand and if not very cheap to get! So if you're ready let's get to it! For homemade fabric softener all you will need is: an empty jug ( I just have a very old fabric softener jug)  2 cups of conditioner any kind, I use the cheapest from Wal-Mart, you can use dollar store but for the size difference I use Wal-Mart!  You will need 3 cups white vinegar. Last you need 6 cups warm water.  That is all you need! So now let's make it, take your 2 cups of conditioner and 3 cups white vinegar and mix together, pour into the jug, then just add the 6 cups water. Give it a shake I try ...

Last round of February

Hello, welcome back to Its A Mom Life, let's finish our last "love" month off shall we. This is a shorter week so the challenge will be easy! I'm hoping anyways! With there only being 4 days left, I purpose we finish the month off strong! This is a full money freeze! Unless you have bills that are needing to be paid or come out of an account, don't use that money! Put those debit and credit cards away, in a drawer, freeze them in a cup of water so you can't grab it. Do what you have to do but don't touch that account! It's only 4 days you can do it, no milk don't have cereal, no bread improvise! You can finish the "love" month off strong and finish saving that money! How did your month challenge go? Did you learn any tricks with this month's challenge? The real question is did you notice the money you saved? Let me know in the comments down below what you thought about this month's challenge! As always don't forget to...

Planning The Week

Image
Hello, happy Sunday welcome to Its A Mom Life! Sundays can be a good rest day, they can also be a good prep day! I have always worked the best with having a list and a good game plan. When I became a mom 10 years ago now, I realized I needed a game plan, with more kids in the mix a day to day plan didn't quit cut it anymore. I like to plan, I had got a planner from my sister a couple years ago and I couldn't go back. With diving into a weekly planner, it was awesome. I have a planner that has a month over look, and a weekly layout! I look forward to sitting down and planning for my up coming week now on Sundays is when I do my weekly planning. Do you use a planner, if so what kind do you enjoy? The one I have now is roughly the same outline, I am still getting use to using it as it's only been a couple months! I have used loose leaf paper, journals, and the weekly layout. I have not invested in making my own yet. This might come for next year! With this to I love a nic...

What's In A Name

Image
Hi, welcome to Its A Mom Life I'm Kandis, however I normally go by: mom, mommy, mommom and mamma hahaha.... I will joke when people ask me what is name is, and reply with a questioning look with "-umm... mom, mamma, oh yes my name is Kandis! Have you ever felt this way? I thought we could talk about mom quilt and all the roles our names play! It is an amazing feeling to be called mom, however I tend to almost forget that I am not just mom, don't get me wrong I am not anything but happy to be called mom, but I need to remember I'm more! I am thinking about the last time, that I went out, with the hubby, or for a girls night out! Is this something that sounds familiar! How many times in a day I get asked where something is, my 2nd kid he now says to me " but, you're mom you know where it is!" How about the number of times or days I didn't get my shower I'm because well life happened! There is so much in my name, and I need to show all sides of it ...

Chocolate Cake Yummy

Image
Hello and welcome to Its A Mom Life, do you have a go to recipe that gets used over and over? In this house when I go to make a cake, when it's chocolate it's the same one! My COCOA FUDGE cake, this is out of Betty Crocker's cookbook new and revised edition. This was my mom's cookbook and is still being well used. I can find this page easy as the page is full of chocolate stains! I had used this recipie the other week for my part of my daughter's birthday cake! This cake is just perfect for chocolate lovers, with it being light and moist, and very easy to make, it's a winner for everyone. This recipe makes one oblong 13x9x2 or 2 layers, 12 cup Bundy cake or about 2 to 2 1/2 dozen cupcakes!! With that I would love to share it and hopefully it can make someone's kiddo just as happy as mine get with this yummy cake! 1 2/3 cup all purpose flour 1 1/2 cup sugar 2/3 cup COCOA poweder 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 cup buttermilk 1/2 ...

Time Goes By

Have you ever set out in the morning with full intentions of doing oh so much? Just to realize that you must of blinked and the whole day is gone, as you look at that on going to do list and wonder where your time/day went! Yap I hear you! I would love to try to help with that! There is always stuff to do, people to take care of, and never enough hours in a day, Right! My mama tip and trick is a couple things to try! Tip one is going to be make a to list of the top priorities of that day. Put the need to do first, then the other tasks after, this way the tasks that is not completed that night you can "roll over" to the next day. Giving your self a little less must does will make the ever lasting list look better. The second tip is multitasking or grouping your chores. If you are in the kitchen while you are waiting on that water to boil, microwave time to go off, see what you can do in that time... can you put some dishes away, sweep the floor, wipe that mystery goop off o...

Diy Baby Wipes

Image
In the world today of all the hustle and bustle it can be hard to stop, take a step back, look around and just enjoy! I have made, tried, loved and hated lots of different products. With life as busy as it is with 4 kids, and money being tight from here and there I make a lot of my own stuff. Some of the products are worth it all, and some not at all. However with that said this is one product that I love and will keep making! This is homemade baby wipes! How much money gets spent on random baby products? Yes you need wipes when you have a kid, but do you need some that are not actually good for the baby! Store wipes I find not to be the best there is alcohol in them, they dry out if left in the vehicle and freezes (As I live in Saskatchewan it's cold a lot of the year) they are expensive, and just not the best! With this I have a recipe that is so easy to make, costs so much less then buying them, and work great without drying out the baby's bottom! Sound like something yo...

Let's Do Another Challenge

It is almost the end of the month, but there is lots of time to challenge ourselves! This week I think is a good week to do a money freeze, and a 1/4 grocery bill! Sound good, let's save more money this month cause who does not "love" to save money! So... With this let's start with the 1/4 grocery bill, it is just what it sounds try to spend a quarter of what you would, this is where our hard work of the meal planning comes in! This is so it's not a full money freeze. If your normal weekly budget for groceries is $100 then this week aim for $25-$30. When making that grocery list remember the $25 is only for this week, and I know you can do it! Next comes the money freeze part to it, this is not a full money freeze as we are getting groceries, but it will still help. With purchases other then the  1/4 grocery budget and any bill that are required to be paid this week, there is no spending money! Say no to that gas station snack, and take out, nails, ECT for 7 days...

Learning To Meal Plan!!

Image
Hi there and welcome to Its A Mom Life! For this planning Sunday I thought we could talk meal planning! I would like to share some steps that I take to plan out my meals, and how I do more then one week planning at a time! When it come to meal planning for multiple week's this is where I find it helpful to have my freezer inventory done. You can have a pantry inventory done if you want that extra step. First step is to get your week or week's written out, I like to use a bright colored sheet, I like to color mine with a highlighter I find a fun paper makes it easier to keep and look at for the extended period of time. I also write my meals into my daily planner as I find this easier to stay on top of making sure my meat or items are pulled out of the freezer the night before or that day. The next step is to brain storm different ideas, this is why I like to have my freezer inventory sheet. I use a separate peice of paper, write out as much as I can off the top of my head. ...

Image
Hello, good morning and happy FRIDAY! This is the first chit chat of the blog and I am very excited! Happy day late Valentine's day, how was your love day? It was some none stop prep and fun here. With it being what I think a fun holiday, it happens to also be my daughter's birthday! This means it gets double busy around here. I find myself not only trying to spread the love, but setting up for a party also. With all this it starts early for me! What do you do for the day, make special foods, crafts, games or just chill and relax? I always end up making heart shaped pancakes for breakfast, with the older ones in school we have a little extra stuff to make sure is packed and ready! Class Valentine's and treats are always sent from this house. I love making fun goodies for the class they are small classes which helps. This year we had made valentine cards and the class goodies, plus I had made the birthday cake and cupcakes! So needless to say there was lots of crafts and ...

❤Valentine's Day Cards❤

Image
Things sure have changed these days when it comes to Valentine cards! They are not cheap and not what they use to be, what do you think? This year the kiddos are making the cards for their class! The nice thing about this is that they are super excited about doing it, and we don't need to come up with a bunch crazy saying (which are not always easy for me), with these Valentine card's they are just cut, glue and write! This year I found a couple choices. There were 3 different cards choices, there was a bear with the saying "- I Hope You Have A Bear-y Happy Valentine's Day, Spinning heart which I wrote "I Hope You Have A Spinning Valentine's Day. Last was a knock knock joke. This has 2 googly eyes and reads: Knock,Knock,Who's There Eyes Eyes Who Eye Wanted To Say Happy Valentine's day. They were fun to make with the kid's, I ended up doing extra prep as I just used computer paper and traced out and cut out all the parts because, I ran out ...

Prep and Prep to be Prepared😄🤘

Image
Hi there, happy Sunday! This is a day of prep for the kiddos and me in the house! We get everything or as much as we can prepped for the week ahead of us! Do you prep for the start of the week, what do you do to help the week go smoothly? Here in our house it is filled with lots of prep however, this is to help the week go more smoothly! As a mom of 4 and the youngest almost a month old, plans and routines might not go as I would like! One of the ways that I prep for the coming week is to prep snacks and lunch items  for the kid's! These items are kept on a cookie sheet in the fridge, then the kiddos just need to repack some into containers and make their sandwiches. This makes lunches quick and easy, even less hectic and stressful! Let me know if this is a topic that you find interesting, I can share more weekly prep ideas that we do around the house! Of coarse go ahead and hit that subsribe or follow me button to join the fun. Till next Sunday Prep Day have a great, pre...

Can You Feel The LOVE!❤

Image
Hi there, and welcome to It's A Mom Life! Valentine's day is always a busy time here in my house, as my oldest kid was born on Valentine's day and being my only daughter out of 4 kids, that is a very special thing! So, I have always tried to amp things up a bit, however it's not like things are always a good deal for this materialistic day! So with all that I try to find new ideas and diy projects that we can do together in the house. Crafts can go a long way for quality time, and the can be displayed as decorations around the house. I also try to do something that they will find special for them. This year I had seen a lot of buzz about hearts on the door stating what the parent finds special about the child! I figured I would give it a try, and the outcome as been awesome! My daughter is a little more in it, then my son, as I am only writhing for the two older children that can read! I have pre cut out hearts so all I need to do is the writting! With this every n...

Make it and love it!

Image
The fact of it all is that as a mom of 4, I get busy! Even being a stay at home mom, it gets crazy here! Does this sound familiar? So lets make what we can easier! For this I want to say and show you a very easy homemade cleaner, that can be used for any surface. This is good for counters, mirrors, cupboards, floors, you need to wipe it down you can go to this! What is it you might be wondering? It is the good old vinegar and water, that's right that's all it is. I add some essential oils to it just to add some nice smells to the house air! This makes it easy to change smells as the season's change also! So... for this all you need is: A spray bottle Vinegar Water Essential oil To make it's just as easy, fill spray bottle about 1/4 full of vinegar, fill rest of way with water then simply add essential oil about 10-20 drops or to desired strenth! That is it, an awesome inexpensive all purpose cleaner, to help save time and money! Give it a try what scent's ...

Almost forgot her cupcakes 🤤

Image
Hello and welcome to It's A Mom Life... Today I am talking cupcakes! My daughter has her turn to take snacks for girl guides, I had totally forgot till this morning. Ok no problem right? Other then I was out of flour from making bread for the week the other day, and I am working on little sleep as the baby was up LOTS last night! So first thing first, wake up and get coffee in me, look over the planner and get a plan. So I got flour ( borrowed some lol), and with the "help" from my 2 year old we busted through them! So what's the point or problem you're asking, well I want to say don't beat yourself up for forgetting stuff, and these cupcakes are supper easy and light and yummy. I hope you enjoy them and can enjoy them a little more anxeity free then this mamma today! COCOA FUDGE CUPCAKE MAKES 2 DOZEN 1 2/3 cups flour 1 1/2 cup sugar 1 ...

Week 2 fill up challenge😁

Image
Hello, how did our first week go? Did you get your inventory done,or just organize your food items? This week's challenge is called fill in because, just as it sounds you will get your main meal plan figured out, then use as little fill ins as you can example, use rice and frozen veggies for a big stir fry vs say meat and veggies. Try to use any left overs for as big of batch's as you can, this is a great way to get meals in the freezer. Aim for more comfort basic foods, I find you can make stretch farther. This should cut down the grocery bill by more the you would think. Here is a 2 week meal plan I did up for us, also some lunches are not filled in because the older kid's are in school, so there is less required for the younger one! šŸ¤— Hope you have fun with this and be open minded when it comes to your meals! Till next week for the third challenge have a great money saving week, with this challenge😁❤

Love What You Have

Well as February rolls in let's think about loving what we have, Yes! This month it is going to be all about that... Loving and using what we have. This means less shopping and more saving. To kick it off as the first challenge it is going to be organize and priorarize your stuff... Stuff like food items/ meal plannin and bill organizing. Sounds easy enough.. Right? So first thing first, figure out if you are going to use good old pen and paper or a spread sheet on your computer? Got your Stuff? Now let's start. Let's start with bills, figure out what needs to be paid and when with how much, this way you will know what you have to work with and what you have left. Next, we are going to organize our food and what we have on hand. With this you can make an inventory list, this will come in handy when you are getting ready to meal plan. With the inventory it can be written or typed or with a dry erase marker written right on the side or side of the freezer! With this step ...
